Client Background
Universal Logistics Holdings company specializes in supply chain solutions that use the latest integrated technology and proprietary systems to deliver precision and control. ULH is one of the ten-largest truckload transporters in North America that also operates some of the largest-volume, highest-velocity material handling facilities in the logistics industry. It serves customers in wide-ranging industries including Aerospace, Automotive, Retail and Consumer Goods, Energy, Government, Steel and Metals, Industrial Manufacturing and Healthcare.
How Did Logic Solutions Help?
Utilizing the Logic Development Center methodology, we started with five Logic Solution developers working for ULH remotely, and visiting their office once per week. These Logic employees are managed by ULH and are deployed for development work, web application work, and mobile development, and are truly treated as part of the ULH team.
A current project our developers are working on is creating a service for drivers to pay workers who unload products from the trucks, called “lumpers.” In the past, lumpers were paid with a Visa card or gift card but it was challenging to maintain proper use. With this new service, specific codes are associated with particular job orders and locations, which ensures funds are only transferable for the correct order, and paid to the lumpers, or lumper company, who complete the work.
The Solution
Logic Solutions was awarded the contract at the end of 2018 based on our expertise in UI/UX design, our experience developing a wide array of custom Android and iOS solutions, extensive web application development and database experience. Logic designed and developed an aesthetically pleasing, easy-to-use, safe, reliable, Android application called OTR DigitalDash and a web-based admin portal for the client’s essential administrative functions.
Project Overview
Originally, ULH reached out to Logic Solutions for help with their website. They wanted a site that more clearly highlighted their various services with a better user experience. Logic went to work and structured a website with intuitive flow. That initial project led to more involvement. ULH had a need to add additional developers to work on various products to manage their various logistics platforms.
They asked Logic if they were interested. The answer was, “Yes.”
Results
This new payment service streamlines the entire payment process for ULH, and allows for greater transparency and accuracy. This is just one of many examples of how Logic’s developers have partnered with ULH to create real solutions through technology. Logic developers continue to provide services at ULH, working on projects that enhance ULH’s offerings to increase efficiency and quality service.
