Client Background
Monitoring and optimizing a child’s nutrition status based on their current medical condition is critical to speedy recovery. Kids who are hospitalized with compromised nutrition tend to have slower healing processes, and even extended hospital stays. When the University of Michigan Health | Michigan Medicine asked if we could help pediatric clinicians and dietitians with a mobile app that would provide easy access to detailed information for making informed decisions about nutrition care, we said, “Let’s serve it up!”
How Did Logic Solutions Help
Logic Solutions helped Michigan Medicine design the Pediatric Registered Dietitian mobile app called Pediatric RD. The app supplements a dietitian’s knowledge with readily available references, can aid physicians when a dietitian is not readily available, and acts as a consistent nutrition reference for dietitians to standardize care throughout a health system.
The app provides information on
- anthropometric measurements
- growth charts
- predictive equations
- formula information for infant, pediatric, and milk/milk substitutes
- guidelines for diagnosing malnutrition
Results
The finished app helped standardize care throughout the system and is now available to hospitals across the country.
